📜 Course Description

What comes to your mind when you hear the words "hand" and "foot"? Perhaps you think they are body parts, or you realize that clocks have hands and wonder if they also have feet. In this seminar, we will explore the relationship between words and how we can examine them in language and thought. Drawing on a thorough examination of research articles, you will gain an understanding of theoretical discussions of semantic relations in linguistics, experimental studies in psychology, and computational approaches. The course will provide you with knowledge of figurative language, such as metaphor and metonymy, and methods using human participants or computer models. In a special session on writing a term paper in linguistics, you will have the opportunity to independently find a topic for your term paper.

🗝 Enrolment
